Im currently working on a black walnut selfbow,cut from a sapling that was in my yard. I laid tge limb design out by measuring from center because of the turns in the stave so from the pith 1 inch each side etc.. my question is this,the thickness of the edges of the limbs is different because of the natural shape of the stave.will this affect anything and should i narrow the limbs to try to even things out?

Just keep the belly very flat and round all the edges.

Thanks for the reply. I've been successful with board bows but this is the first self bow I've attempted in awhile.

Be sure the wood is dry also. If it starts to take on set let it dry more.

It's been sitting for some time now long enough to dry. I've tackled self bows before just got lucky enough to get hickory with fungus that time.
