This one is from some bandsaw side cuts off a large stave. I didn't even realize they were valid billets until I took the bark and sapwood off them, after having them for years, in preparation for planning them flat for bbo cores. But, of course realized they were too good to waste on that having decent rings and no knots. Since they were short I didn't want to lose any length to a splice, so I went with a homemade takedown sleeve I made from a piece of chain link fence tubing. Has some sinew patches on the lower limb from a grain tare that was there from when the log was split. Has some natural wiggles back to belly and limbs coming out of the sleeve at two different angles which makes the tiller look a bit odd, but still came out pretty decent.

59" ntn 50# at 26" rawhide backed.

Well done! Great idea on the take down sleeve.

It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

Nice catch on those trimmings.  A good example of "waste not, want not". Beautiful work, as well!
Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

Nice job, and nice save!  I hate to see Osage go to waste.
