Has anyone added the 6 inch extension kit to the grizzly bandsaw. Would change verticle clearance from 6 to 12 inches.

Considering it to resaw some cedar logs etc.
Pros? Cons?

Cons is having to get longer blades than what you already have most likely.....other than that,  I've heard/read NOTHING bad about the lift kits!

BigJim

Yeah, longer blades are more expensive. there are so many saws that use the 93 1/2" that they are very resnable.

I have rarely had the need, but then again, my laguna has a huge clearance for a 14" saw.

Thanks for the replys.
For the regular blades Grizzly actually has them for similar price.
May be a while before I purchase.

Ron, if you put an extension in and saw logs with it, is the motor gonna be up to that task?
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Good question Kenny.
I have 1 1/2 HP think it will work. I'm talking max 4 foot long.

I have this setup from Grizzly.  I needed it for cutting up blocks of tupelo and cedar for decoy carving.  It is a nice setup although I have not cut up any logs with it.  The biggest thing I've used it for was cutting blocks from a 4'x10"x18" piece of tupelo.  I don't remember what size motor I have but I've never had any issues as long as I go slow and use the right blade for the job.
