Actually I bought part of this a looong time ago.

Didn't think it would work all that well after I bought it, so it laid around the tool box til today when I started shaping TD #2.

This riser block of bocote is one of those gummy blocks , and was filling sandpaper on my spindle sander like crazy.

So I saw the old idea laying there, and went ahead and put it together.

I started shaping on the riser about 2:30 this afternoon and just sprayed it just now....

Back with pics of the secret weapon soon....   :D

Sorry , hadda spray another coat....

This is the tool used to rough up tires to parch, but I mated it to my cordless drill .

It has a 3/8" hole in it, I used a 5/16 carriage bolt, rounded the squares just enough to start in the bigger hole.

Put a 2" bolt in,a 1/2" nut on back so the washer and nut would pull down tight.

Grinds the heck out of bocote, wasn't hard to control, run as fast as you want. Plugged up a little, but could prob soak in mineral spirits and blow clean.

A 3" bolt might be OK for clearance.

NOT OSHA APPROVED!! Leather gloves might be OK too....  :D
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I'd probably wreck a bow with something like that.     :scared:

You can lead a human to knowledge, but you can't make him think!

BenBow

Used to use those on truck and tractor tires. Hooked up to a high speed air powered tool. Sure wood take wood off in a hurry.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

I use a slow speed on a cordless drill. Figured the air tool would be waaaay too fast for me!! LOL
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Does anyone use the 3M Scotchbrite pads that are impregnated with abrasives? They are similar to the above but you can get them in a range of grits and they leave a really cool textured finish.

Roy from Pa

Did your old tool wear out, Kenny?

Roy from Pa

McKenzie,,, you have always been slow speed and cordless.
