Bit of a shame this grain will get covered by 'boo lams and black glass but the belly lams and rest of riser should still look ok. /002_zpsb05de618.jpg[/IMG]

This wood apparently can't be cut down any more, I think, but this was a wind blown from a storm. Didn't get much serviceable wood so this one I promised myself as I currently don't have one of my own.

Wow that looks good! what is that wood?

rockkiller

Very good looking. Are you covering them with black glass because of the clear glass issues?

bigbob2

I'm not sure of the legal standing and what the actual restriction on it is,so scant info but it's a fruitwood.  Rockkiller it's just that that grain is on the back of a one piece which has a 'boo lam and then the black glass running up over the back so either way it would still be covered. The two lams will go under clear glass on the belly.

Great looking stuff Mr Bob.

It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

update on this post, here's the bow nearly finished, and it's one for me as I don't currently have one of my own to use at trad events.Came in at a good useful 48# at 28''and is 60 NTN. Wood is an Australian native fruit wood not really commercially available.Photo 2 is a little darker than reality

Wow, how about we trade native woods, you ever hear of cottonwood?

All joking aside what a beautiful bow!

Thanks! Cottonwood?                 Pity the clear has the dreaded streaks as seems to be the norm these days, but at least it's only minor.
