Mike maybe a letter from the sender stating it was a gift would help.  They can look here to see that it is a trade and that you aren't purchasing it for $600

I marked it as a gift and put a low value on the bow I shipped so the fee would be minimal to the recipient.

It happens here in Canada too (although they're not quite as greedy here). I always mark mine as a gift and put a fairly low value on it.

I marked mine as a gift too, but put a nominal value of $300 on it so here's hoping.Willem I never had to pay any duty on your bow[ and knife] so all good there.

Got home from Montana tonight. My wife's new bow from Dave (wood carver 2) came out of the tube looking spectacular. The draw weight is perfect for her. Not able to shoot tonight and she leaves town in the morning so I'll just have to try it out for her. I will get some action shots posted when she gets home next week.

He also included a carved turkey head that is really cool. Took a full 30 seconds for me to make the wood carver 2 connection. Must be jet lag.

Check out this sweet takedown rig I received from Australia, all Aussie woods. Thanks Dan!      This bow is AWESOME! I don't have a chrony but I can tell you this bow is fast and the native woods used are sharp looking!

The mighty Buffalo Bow will definitely be hunting this fall, I can't wait!

Try scraping the bottom end of that turkey head against a slate. You may like the sounds it makes.

Ok and like that we are at 32% done still have 7 bows in the mail.

I have one tillerd out to 18" and 32 lbs. the I realized I did not have roy's name he was not in this year.  

But I still have room to go so not worried.

I was very excited to see the ups man turn up with a long tube for me. When I opened the tube I found the bow had both of its tips broken. One overlay sheared off and the other tip has split along the rings down the limb. It has clearly been treated far from gently by the delivery people.
I'm really sorry to have to relate this news for the maker more than anything else. I'm sorry I don't know who made this bow, it's an osage selfbow 50#@27, horn overlays and a brown leather wrap.

Damn Mike, really sorry to hear that. I've only had a few dents and dings on bows I've received through shipping but none broken yet. I'm sure it will happen eventually. Is the bow salvageable at all?

Dang that sucks Mike. Hopefully between you and whoever made the bow can get UPS to make up for it.

Mike I hope on you get that 100 back since it is now useless.

Man it is hard to damage osage.  Sorry for both of you guys.  How long of a bow is it?  Could you just shorten it a bit and up the poundage?

That sucks Mike. Sorry to hear that for both you and your mystery maker.

On a brighter note, I shot my wife's bow from Dave last night. My arrows are a bit heavy and stiff for it, but it had good cast and was crazy quiet. Even plucking the string like a guitar made for low, quiet sound. Amazing. Very smooth too, I think she'll be happy. It was too dark to get any pictures, so I'll just wait until she gets home.

Hope we hear something from my recipient soon. I'm itching to send out this bow!
