Looks like you could make a shorter bow and the braced profile would be better and so would the 28" profile. Looks cool though

It looks kinda different to me, if it shoots good, I will like the looks better tho!

I can use the same form for a shorter bow, and may make one.

I like a longer bow, but was hoping for a forgiving forward handle longer longbow that the string didn't touch the limbs for quiet and would take care of my shooting mistakes. Is that too much to ask?

I think shooting around full width riser would hamper it a bit. Probably not gonna need that!! LOL

I like the full draw on it but can't get past the awkward looking braced profile.....

i think its awesome- but yer right, the braced pic does look different- just cos its something we are not used to. but i bet it looks a whole lot different when the riser is all shaped up!

But like I said, if it is super forgiving and easy to shoot, I just won't look at it while I'm huntin with it!!

Nice Kenny, super informative too. I've always kind of thought that forward risers looked a bit strange, doesn't look too out of place to me.  Maybe try adding more taper to the limbs? Taper and tip wedges to get it bending more mid limb and shorten the draw without making it whip-y? The heavy deflex bows seem to like a lot of taper. Thanks for sharing!  Excited to see it finished!

Interesting. I think it looks kind of weird at brace, the first thought that came to my mind was; clothes hanger(with the hook missing) But it looks okay when drawn and something new takes a while to get used to,I guess. Hope it shoots good.

Just found this thread. Love these types of threads. My take on it is maybe a little stiff in the tips. You are probably going to chrono it and see where you are then go off of that.

Kenny, Got a question for you..

1.  Where are you going to get the 35" arrows?      

After studying the profile a little, I think it looks "weird" because the riser isn't finished yet, or is it?  I am not bowyer, so I don't know.  But i compared this profile to an Elkhart and it seems like his is the same except for the amount of riser he adds on the belly of the bow.  I could possibly be WAY off, just a rookie's observation.

His bows are also about 6" shorter. lol.  This would be a great bow for a 7' person!

and sorry for the flood of questions but, in reference to your string angle not being 90* at 28", that means you are not getting all the performance out of the bow?

Is "stacking" when the bow gets past that 90* angle?

Yep the Elkheart was one of the bows I looked at when drawing this up. I wanted the forward handle but with the longer length to cover for my poor form...   :D  

Usually when the string angle goes past square the bow will begin to stack . That is, the weight will become more per inch than before that point.

I'm thinking since the string angle is so low at 28" I'm not getting nearly all out of her that is possible. But, with the stack I used being similar to my other d/ r and coming in 15 lbs heavier, it may be quicker due to lighter limbs for weight obtained for the stack.    :p
