The human body is the only machine the harder you work it, the stronger it gets.

Bamboo, can you explain how it works- looks like a chinese puzzle to me- cant figure  it out   :knothead:

bamboo

the riser block is roughed out slightly over sized on a bandsaw---then clamped in to the pattern jig to ground to finish shape
you push the base of the jig against the "rub-rail' and grind the riser blank until it matches the shape of the pattern jig ---I hope that helps

so i guess the pattern jig is 1/16" smaller than desired finished size- or even  a tad smaller than that to match the  gap.
does the steel rub collar have a flange on the underside, so that it is attached to the underside of the table?
many thanks

bamboo

no flange-but the plywood is double thick @the drum-fitting trough the hole in the cast iron-giving the rub collar twice the attachment area and a purchase with the machine
Mike

fujimo

cool thx.
so its screwed to the plywood base plate- and it in turn is clamped to the cast iron surface?
many thanks

I can make a flange for the rigid sander. It's out of a high impact plastic.  Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you pictures.  It's what I use for mine.

I have the Rigid and would like to see your setup.
