Howdy Folks,

Just curious to ask for those of you guys that use FF string material -

Do you pad your loops?

Do you suppose there is good reason to even if your tip overlays are phenolic?

I never do, but if your in doubt, then it wouldn't hurt to pad them.

I don't on phenolic, but I do on wood tips.

I have used 3 different string builders the last 10 years..all have padded the loops on FF Flemish twist strings. I think it helps with quietening my recurves. I also think it makes the loops stronger and abrasion resistant. I started using the "skinny" strings on my longbows a couple years ago and loops are padded. Helen prefers endless strings on her target bows, they aren't padded but are served nicely.

If I am using an 8 strand or so skinny string then I pad them to around 16 strands.
