Well, as things sometime don't go so well, things have not been going so well with my trade bow.  First, could not get the first set of limbs to line up properly.  I fought them for several days and decided to make them over.  This morning the second set blew up on me.

Gonna start completely over!!

LESKEN2011

I got to use the new planer to re-purpose an old bed frame for a bow form this morning as part of my getting used to the new tool.  I will try to get pics up later today. i love it so far!!

that's looking beautiful Thad.

I love beavertail....that stuff wears like iron! Do you have enough left for a strike plate to match?

delongbows

That is gonna be sweet soy!

I tried to put a beaver tail grip on my trade bow last year but it didn't work out. I love the way they look!

Still moving shavings on mine. Getting time is tough at the moment, but will have a bow shortly.

Well plan A fell through. With my left hand not working I couldn't get the short string on soon enough.  Kept tillering and made it too weak.
# 2 is on the form drying. Determined to meet the deadline.

Spraying Krystal tonight for the first time. Having trouble getting the gun set right, but otherwise like the stuff. Dries fast and sands up nice. Another 30 minutes and I'll head down to label the bow and apply the (hopefully) final coat.

Pat at least you are moving. Have not shaved any wood and I am past my deadline.

Me, too, Kelly.  Glueing a bamboo backing on an Osage board tomorrow for número tres.  I think I'll start doing three "practice" bows every time I start a bow from now on. This is getting old!

Tonight I had the pleasure of test driving the bow canopyboy will be sending his recipient.  Dang, it's a sweet shooter and will make somebody very happy.  I'm now thinking that the next one I build for myself will be similar.

I also got to try out the bow Justin built for him.  Very nice work Justin and that sucker shot a heavy ash arrow with authority.

I'm now kind of regretting not getting in the swap this year, but I wasn't sure of the time my work schedule was going to allow this past spring.  Next year....

Glad I'm not the only delinquent, Kelly. My hickory pyramid is coming along nicely, just have to manage the humidity so it doesn't do anything funny.
