I have a digital scale, but pushing down on a bathroom scale with a tiller stick has worked well too.

I'll probably have mine shipped out in the beginning of next week.  Its going with me to a shoot this weekend..lol

Gotta touch up my limb forms and full form this weekend and I will be ready for glue ups. I have decided on a hard maple molly for my backup, if the take down doesn't turn out right.

Got my riser and one limb glued up last night.  Hopefully get the other limb tonight.  Maybe get  some pics tomorrow.

Got this thing about halfway done, gonna check the tips (some questions there) and I think I'm gonna have to rawhide back it.  Cable would work, but the stupid dog (her name is Little Stupid, seriously) ate my roll of cabling and the test bow firing ended up with a mild concussion and a cut above my eye.

The bow should go out hopefully in the next two weeks.  I finally lost about twenty pounds of fluid and got back up and doing.  Incidentally, my last working wood bow gave out, so all I have is a piece of plastic.  Gonna have to remedy that soon.

wondering how long and thick is your riser? Really like the way it looks and would like to get something like that going on my bench

Kopper1013 - My riser block that I begin with is 1.5 wide and 2.0 deep. When I get down to the shaping of the riser I just keep working with it until it looks a feels right. This particular riser grip is one of my favorite styles and feel. I am hoping it will be just right for my recipient.

Boy you guys sure know how to put the pressure on. Some beautiful stuff coming down the pike. Kinda hard for us old, run of the mill, bow makers to compete with. I sure hope one of the 4 I am working on turn out good enough for my recipient to not be too disappointed!! Decided on bamboo for the tri-lam back and will glue it up tonight. Got the molly all roughed out and should be ready to start tillering tomorrow. The take-down is on hold till I get the other two finished. The 4th one is a secret. If I have time I will get it done, but don't want to take a chance on not finishing on schedule.

I'm within sight of the finish line, just the gold leaf, a little polishing, and the rest of the stingray grip to complete and she should be good.  I have an issue though.  See, I can make strings for my bows-Asian recurves with tied in string loops, often on something that relies on string bridges for  snap-but I can't make one for this.  I tried one of mine-I didn't enjoy the bloody lip.  I have a temp nylon string on it-I can shoot it, and it's repeatable and solid (a little wide for my taste but remember what I shoot) but my recipient deserves better than this.  I have money to buy, not looking for a handout, but this one is pretty unique and deserves something special.

What are you looking for in terms of a string?

Length, material, color etc.?

When I finish errands for the day, I'll grab a nice set of in-depth pics.  The bow is golden hickory, with quilted/burl maple tip overlays and walnut burl grip overlay, stingray skin arrow pass and side grips.  Pulls around 54-55.  I like it, personally.  I'd shoot it.  Especially since my last wood bow is gone.

I've got to add the gold leaf accents and the name and weight to the bow and I'm done.  That'll take a night or two.

My second attempt, a HHB with flipped tips kicked my butt so now I'm on number 3. I couldn't keep the string lined up down the center of the bow. After the third attempt, after heavy tempering and straightening I'd get about 6 shots and the string was back out of alignment. I even brought it to the Tenn Classic to get help from folks that know, made the adjustment again and we were back where we started. This has been a frustrating ride so far but sometimes these things happen.
I ended up giving both the HHB and the persimmon away to friends at the Classic this weekend that knew what they were getting. Both bows shot well enough they were just not trade worthy.  
This third bow will be osage and I know I can build a bow from that. Boy, you gotta love this wood bow building.  d;^)
