Tough break Roy.
I've collected a few things for my swap bow but haven't started.
The last bow I clued up had a lot of splintering during glue up.
It was when it was really cold and I think the moisture was too low.

Haven't been able to get to my trade bow lately beyond making the belly lams with splices, and glued up a riser.Hopefully next week should see some progress,

Roy from Pa

It happens Mac, I've been on a good run with BBO's and guess it was past due for a splinter to show up.

Hey Roy gotta a pic of those boo cracks for me? Can`t imagine this at all but could be very usefull for my upcomming BBX/trilam attempt...

Roy see what happens when you stand behind me & break pieces of wood when I've got a bow on the tree. I know how you feel buddy.

My bow is complete and will be shipped in the next week or so.  It's a wicked cool osage selfbow, xx# @ xx" for XXXXXXX "XXXXXXXXX" XXXXXXXXXX.

I'll post pics tonight.

I am in the final stages of my second swap bow i could not decide which to build so I built both. This one came in more closely to the target weight. 50# @ 28" it is 60" ntn. And so very smooth.

Now to decide which to send out...My first one was 56" ntn and right at or slightly under 60# @28. Has a little more of a pull not quite as silky smooth as the 60". Both are really throwing a heavy arrow fast...

What to do?   :D

You could be that over-zealous bowyer who just sends both and makes the rest of us look bad...

Yep  - I thought about that for about a 1/2 a second and then realized I still have a little selfishness left in me...

Cunruhshoot & Ranger 3, those bows a awesome!!!

Here's where I'm at so far.  It is 65" tip to tip.  the design was changed to a mollie style so that I could keep enough wood around the knot in the lever.  Still not sure if it will survive and hope it doesn't cause too much hand shock due to the extra weight on that end.  At this point I'm ready to start tillering.  Most of the reflex is natural, once I removed a few dips.

Very nice work guys. I had to start all over as the boo popped up two cracks on the first try. Such is life when working with bamboo. I love it but it pisses me off at times:)

So I decided to jump outside of the box and make a quad lam this time instead of a tri lam. It's for Kenny M anyway so I don't care how it works out, LMAO:)

Osage belly lam from Kenny, then a red elm core lam, then an Osage core lam from Kenny, then backed wif boo. Bocote riser from Kenny and awesome cow horn tip over lays from Trapper Rob. Wish me luck...

Material here.

Had to lay out the Z splice.

Here it is cut out.

Had to Z splice the belly and core Osage lams, here they are glued up for the night.
