This seems to be the year for walnut, huh?  Guess I'm following suit then.

I was thinking dark on the back too, just wanted to see what others thought.  I need to dig through the wood stack and see what I could use for the riser.  I'm pretty sure I've got a chunk of walnut, and maybe some cherry; I think I've still got some quarter sawn sycamore and some hickory.  Hmmm.  **********, what do you think?

One of two things will happen; it'll either work or it won't.

Joe, I would love to see that quarter sawn sycamore with walnut. Sounds like a nice combo!

Need some help, my trade bow came in on the light side. It is 66" and I'm thinking cutting 1" off one or bought tips. What do you think and how much do you think it would arr if any?

With my bows, mild d/r, I usually gain 6-8 pounds by shortening ntn 2". Depending on core wood. Can't be positive as to how it would affect yours....what style is it?

Roy from Pa

I would take an inch off each end, I'd bet you will gain 4 to 5 pounds.

delongbows

My bad....no experience with those. Roy's the man in that department.

macbow

If it were mine I"d cut the 1 inch off each end sounds like it would fall right in there.

Found a surprise in my osage stave I've been working on, about 10" from the tip there was a bump on the back.  I figured it was probably a knot, but could not see any sign of it from the belly.  As I worked it down I found a rather large rotted knot inside, when all cleaned out it's about 3/4" in diameter and almost through to the back.  There is 2 or 3 rings of good wood over the entire hole.  I drilled it out and glued in a plug of osage.  Now I've decided to make a mollie out of it since it will be in the transition from bending limb to lever.  I feel it has a better chance of survival this way.  Always wanted to build a mollie any how.

Anybody using any other glue besides urac for their bamboo backed bows...

Is there anything else available? Urac is getting harder and harder to get shipped up north..
