Seems a pity to cover that Maple in leather, nice bow though!

Beautiful bow.  I really like light colored risers with yes limbs.

Built a new 58/60 inch r/d form, helped a buddy finish a hill bow I started a while back which he wanted to take over. Waiting for my riser block to come in to start a new bow.

Got up early.
Mowed the lawn, weed whipped, vacuumed the pool.
All in order for my Wife to host a bachelorette pool and game party today.

...shoulda put up a trail cam too...

LMAO!!!!! Great minds think alike!    :biglaugh:   I Picked up a preval sprayer today. I should have time to put on a couple coats of buffalo hide before I leave out of town for work in the morning for 2 more weeks. I've had it ready for spray for several weeks now but work has really got in the way!  I guess I need to get my priorities right!!

After working 7 hours today. holiday pay plus OT..I cut into a 8/4 maple board I bought 5 years ago. The tree was cut 9-10 years ago and air dried. My pinless moisture meter read 5.5% on a fresh cut side. will check again tomorrow after it sits on the bench a day. I cut two riser blocks out of a 10 ft board and squared them up on belt sander. Found a little curl/tiger stripe in the riser blocks so I'm happy. Gonna set up my swing Jig and add some glass to the maple blocks

Robert, what's a moisture neter and how does it work?  :)

This morning I wetted the leather wrap on the handle of the atl atl I made yesterday as well as my flintknapping tools I made from moose, caribou and deer antler. Now to just start walking and bringing home some flint to work.......

I really like that white glass on yew. Would make a great set with my black glass and yew bow.

Met a neighbor I didn't know I had. (Thought neighbor A fully bordered my property until I looked at a map.) Only lived here 11 years. Anyhow, got permission to recover from his property, but not to hunt on it. Oh well, better than the ones that don't want you to even hunt near the property line...

Middle daughter is excited for the season to start this weekend. Her own crossbow shows up in a day or two. She can't comfortably draw a hunting weight bow yet, maybe in a year or two. She did ask for a recurve crossbow instead of the compound type we borrowed for her last year. She's definitely got the traditional mindset. She's also bugging me to make a duplicate of the swap bow for her. Maybe we'll find enough time in between item's on Mom's lists to glue one up. The rule is homework has to be done and she has to help.

Bamboo...

The leather on your bow is beautiful. Very fitting for such a pretty bow.

....The other bow's grip shape sure looks nice..

cant believe you used the C word on here!!   :D

seriously though, I have always wanted to build one of the medieval crossbows- seen some real neat ones on some of the forums.

bamboo

thanks guys--the white glass was real streaky
and I had to cull 2 out of four pc of glass
I was worried about the quilted maple and planned on dying it --it made the figure really pop!

zad--the yeller one is a hybrid I've been messing with---so far so good! still working out the cosmetics /process--

I've only done one of those glue on thumbrests...pain in the keister!...but worth it.

Lookin good!

..what's the accent wood in the rest and heel of the grip?

Finished up a mobile work station that helps me in a couple of ways. Puts stave up almost chest high so I don't have to stay bent over while chasing a ring or working on tiller. Eric Krewson gave me that tip to help with my back and after chasing my first ring on it today really seems to help a lot. Also can easily move outside in the fresh air to work. Don't look like much but works great.

I was fortunate to shoot most of Bamboo's bows and that Hybrid is an eye opener. Super smooth, quick and I'm partial to grips with thumb rests. You place your hand in the same place, every time for every shot.

I try to visit Mike every couple weeks before hunting season starts to see what he has cooking in the shop....and get to shoot the latest.
