Shawn, what a waste of booze...
No worries Roy I got plenty of mason jars

...broke my 1st bow. Things were looking really nice on the very taught string with the tips moving 9".
Moved it up to about a 2" brace string.
flexed the tips down about 4" and BOOM!
Didn't see any signs of a hinge at all.
The worst thing is I have no idea WHY.
The hickory backing broke almost straight across in 2 places 9" or so apart.
The walnut core "tore" diagonally in between the breaks.
The osage belly splintered a little but not much.

I bundled up some river cane for drying and I'm getting ready to scrape on a piece of hickory.
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

Started wiping on the finish on a 75" osage longbow that I have been working on.

Got a lot done started last weekend built two forms for my takedown limbs out of LVL. Also made a string stretcher for my bow strings. Spent 14 hrs today finishing up the forms and layed up the first set of limbs on them. Glued overlays on a riser. tomorrow I plan to make a bench with a bow oven built into it.

Finally started on a deflex/reflex for myself as I don't have a bow at the moment apart from Soy's awesome 'snake bow' from last years trade which i'm trying hard to 'mother' Going to be pushed for time with everything as just got another order in and more potentials looking likely.Oh well @#$%$#$^%& might have to settle for a PVC bow for the trade swap!   :bigsmyl:

Well, yesterday got the second bow final tillered by softening the lower limb a bit.  First coat of finish on it.  Yew bow only needs one more coat.  So it was time to form the handle wraps.  I use veg-tanned leather and wrap and stitch while soft and wet.  Then I let it dry, finish the bow and the leather separately.  So that's today's plan.  I also need to make a couple more strings before I leave for the hog hunt in GA on Thursday...

Yeah. Roy's ok, I guess.

My wife helped me cut a load of firewood. Maybe brought a rick and a half, not quite a cord. Should finish out the winter with some left for next fall. Three dead dry trees, one live tree.

Now to start my trade bow.

Dmaxshawn

Made veneers ERC, put a ziricote zebra boo and brown glass in the cooker.

Picked out a piece of walnut for my swap bow.

kennym

I worked on the blank for my veneers on my trade bow, and wired my saw so I could get back to work!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Did some prep work on a couple of taxidermy bases, then I planed some bamboo slats and worked on some ideas for a riser for my swap bow.
