nice bow---I use the super glue jell squeegeed in to fill-sand -fill/sand/fill let the sawdust lay on it and help fill-
some wenge needs more attention--some less

Thanks for the tips on grain fillers- I've used the epoxy and acetone before with good results- maybe I'll luck out and have an easy piece of wenge to work with...

Wenge is not that bad. Just mix up some gloss T Bird and brush on a couple of coats and sand down. Do a third if needed.

So I've got all the overlays glued on- I did glue on a piece of elk antler for a thumb rest- it's a bit oversized at the moment but some sanding will take care of that.
All the overlay parts and pieces..

The bow seems to be setup with quite a bit of string follow (the tips look about 1-2" behind the front of the riser). Is this because it's so short?

What's a typical brace height for this bow?

Do you think it could be done with more reflex, or even just the tips even with the front of the riser if it were for a draw of less than 28"?

The 1-2"s is because of the length. It takes a 9" brace height. Stability becomes and issue with it if the limbs are longer- it will unstring itself because of that. I've never experimented with the design other to change it.

Man, hard not to love side profile curves like that.

Finally got some time to work on the bow. I got the riser shaped and started blending in the overlays. Next come the tips...

Nice one Dave!  You need to move back up this way and teach this old dummy how to do those mosaics.

Thanks guys! I see some grain filler in my future with the wenge but it should look good once the finish hits it. If all goes well I should have it done in plenty of time for Xmas. Jess I'll have to track you down next time I'm in town.
