I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Grant (canopyboy) this evening.  He was traveling up my way from northern VA for some business meetings in State College which is not too far from me.  He comes to State College fairly frequently, but this was the first both our schedules matched up.  So we got to shoot a little bit before our sunlight faded away; tried out each others bows and bows we've received in recent bow swaps; and laid them all out to compare designs.  We then went for dinner at a local Inn and talked hunting and bows some more over some good food and good beer.

Here's a pic of all the bows we were playing with laid out on the floor of my "man room".  Some you'll recognize from build-alongs and pics in the bow swap threads the past couple years.

Great meeting you Dave and you make a fine bow.

Dave is a good guy, and a better craftsman. His work on his bows and his other wood projects is commendable.

Sounds like you all had a good time!

Yessirreebob!  Good times for sure!

John's a hell of a guy, I enjoyed meeting him and his family and we had a great evening.  Always nice to put a face and voice to a screen name.  If anyone is ever in central Pennsylvania, you should get him to take you out for wings at the local watering hole.  They were good!

And Cory, glad you chimed in: I shot the bow you made for John for the swap.  It was awesome!  Very smooth, zipped an arrow, and I was having a ball with it.  I'm hoping next swap I can add a heartland bow to my collection too!

The only down side was that it got dark too soon and I didn't have my fill of that Howard Hill bow you finished from the blank.  That thing really has me wanting to build one with more taper in the limbs and a narrower width than I normally build.

Let me know when you're heading up this way again!
