A patch will hold.  I've done several.  But if that was my only hunting bow, I think I'd risk it unrepaired for the season.  Tough call though.  In the end I think it will fold there.

After looking at it more, I am going to fall back on JD's assessment, that needs a new belly lam.  Buck Buckley makes these right?  He's around here from time to time.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I think a patch is in order, but it will be down the road a bit. I'm afraid of attempting it now considering it's my only hunting bow and I'm not very experienced at bow repair. (in fact thus far I'm only known for breaking them!    I will likely use it as is for the first few weeks. Unfortunately, I just dumped my bow money into the form, heat box and materials for my first glass lam bow so buying another is not an option. Perhaps by the end of Oct I'll be in a better position to do so. Thanks everyone!

Yeah this is always a tough call ... to fix or to roll the dice ... and how many times to roll the dice. Personally I'd only string the bow for hunting, don't take any more shots until you get one on a deer.

I think it's unlikely to fail there immediately, especially if the area doesn;t look hinged when strung. If it starts to form a hinge there you're at the end of the line and will have to repair.

I've been thinking about how many more shots I can get out of her....problem is as stated before - due to injury I've been out and need the practice.

i have done a few of those patch's now, shouldn't take you more than a few hours spread over a day or so to fix, do as art says.
To file and fit and glue should be relatively short work, let it dry for a few hours, rasp, sand and smooth the patch, and then finish and seal it.
get shooting the next day.
