Been using true oil and wipe on poly but would like to rack it up a notch. We can't get Thunderbird over here and not sure about Krystal. I have a compressor and spray gun [ never used it though] and would like peoples opinion on a good substitute finish that will look and behave really 1st class. Has to be easy to apply too    :biglaugh:  seeing as I'm a bit of a novice with a spray gun.

Are you sure bigbob2? I don't know if we have ever sent over seas, but we send it to Canada regularly.

If you send me an email with your address, I can check for you.

thanks, bigjim

Can you get conversion varnish over there, Bob?

Al Dean

I use min wax helmsman spar varnish.  I mix it 2 to 1, varnish to paint thinner and spray it on.  Excellent finish, water proof and UV proof.

email on its way Bigjim. Roy I don't know what conversion varnish is,but I'm fairly certain we would have some. We do have a wide range of varnishes, epoxies etc, just not Thunderbird. Maybe Krystal if I look hard enough.

Conversion Varnish is good stuff, Bob. Two coats and the bow is done, it dry's to sand rather quickly also.

I use spray spar varnish. Im sure it's not as tough as some of the others but I've never had any problems with it.
