hey guys,

I have a few flat pcs of ebony and osage that I plan on gluing together for a riser.

Should I use tb3 or unibond?

I'll wipe with acetone in both cases.
Tooth if using unibond.

Thanks

I.would tooth it real good, degrease with denatured alcohol, and use the epoxy.

Alcohol leaves less residue behind than acetone.

hmmm..might use both ethanol and acetone..whichever seems to take out the most oil...

Has anyone tried Smith &Co teak and oak epoxy for wood laminated bows? Self Bowyer Stim Wilcox speaks highly of it in his "Art of making self bows". It claims to excel at bonding oily woods and requires no de-oiling.

After watching one of Big Jim's videos. He said he,doesn't like to use acetone on,oily woods, it just pulls more oil to the surface.
Since I usually forget anyway I don't use it anymore. Haven't had any glue up problems.

NO chemicals on the wood you are gluing. If any is left behind it may cause adhesion worse than the oil. I have glued about every kind of wood and use only compressed air to clean it.
Smooth-on is hard to beat for such projects.
