New bow i was working on all day, made of bamboo garden stakes and duct tape(which is a wonderful invention).I can't explain how it's made because it is a complicated design that you people wouldn't understand         :bigsmyl:

Draffish

you carnt beat a bit of duct tape. looks like a nice bit of reflex in the lower limb as well very nice. :)
wonder if you could use fibreglass tent poles as a backing ?

CalebNH00

No, there isn't any reflex in the limb, it's just a bump.

If it came in a little light all you have to do is tape a few more stakes in it to bump up the poundage. lol..I'd cover it all in duct tape..the camo kind..

Cool, looks like fun to me. I have been thinking about making one using carbon arrows and braided fishing line..

Survival boo-bundle-bows are cool but a draw pic is missing...

Well, not at you, but certainly at your ingenuity and pragmatic thinking. Here I am, all worked up about grain direction and wood species and relative thicknesses and all, and here's someone that made a bow in a very simple and logic fashion...will probably shoot better than my soon-to-be ELB, too.

Don't worry. I had the same reaction when I saw Tim Baker's description of a rivercane-bundle bow in one of the TBB volumes. I sometimes have these odd reactions...   :goldtooth:

I'd like to see a full draw picture at 28 inches before I snicker out loud.

LittleBen

haha Roy don't make him do it, the string will slip off.

IIRC I calculated that with a perfectly tillered (i.e. arc of circle tiller) bend through the handle bow, the draw length at which the string is at 90degrees to the limb tip is equal to 1/2 of the string length. So for a string of 48", no more than 24" draw on a bendy handle bow.

So this bow probably shouldn't get drawn much past 24" without having string grooves, or the string may slip off.

Here's a full draw pic for you unbelievers    :D

Lots of game has been taken all round the world over many millenia with bows of that design. Who knows how they did it without duct tape.

Make sure you use some of those cane poles for arrows and a 10p nail for the field point. Could even use the duct tape for the fletchings. If your going to go all Robinhood (from the cartoon) then do it right  :)

Be careful brave one......thats a good way to never see again.

CalebNH00

Just test shot it. It shoots my normal arrows(400 grain or so) a little slow, so i am making some bamboo arrows for it.

new arrows!
