Building some bamboo arrows and am thinking of making some antler blunts. Have any of you tried this? I think the weight would/ could work out with making it somewhat bulbous, but not sure if it would take a hit on tree or especially rock. what are your thoughts/ experience.

I don't think they would hold up on trees and rocks, antlers are somewhat porous inside and I believe they would crumble on a solid hit, IMO.

ya might try putting superglue on the antler as it  soaks into the pores of the antler and makes it rock hard.

Maybe a shell casing with some lead inside for extra weight.
With the casing being over the bamboo it should keep it from fracturing.

I like the antler. Heck the force of two bucks hitting each other is not a small force. I would use the tips and make more of a field point. Give it a whirl and let us know.

You can make blunts of target points out of duplex nails. They are made for building concrete forms and have 2 heads so you can remove them easily when the form isn't needed anymore. You may have to drill out the center hole of the cane so the nails shaft fit and you can cut the nails shank to reduce weight if needed. The double head would make a good blunt and if you grind the top head to a point it makes a good target point.

From time to time I do a little antler turning on the lathe and i think this could work! Are ya thinking about make a slip over shaft tip or a glue in insert  tip?  Anyways if ya get me some measurement , a rough sketch and a tip weight I would attempt a build for ya. PM me if ya want or post it publicly, I am sure others will be interested and have some good ideas.

A nutter works well too and is about as cheap as you can get.

Thanks for the Ideas guys. Iv' made blunts out of bullet casings, stainless steel tubing compression fittings, and adapted field tip blunts. Just thinking antler would be unique and functional if used wisely.Trying to keep a primal look with the bamboo shaft/s. Was woundering if anyone had tried it.
