few people expressed an interest in seeing bows with some aussie timbers so here's one I've just done. It's not my swap bow though.these timber names will be alien to most but here goes. riser is Mulga and ringed gidgee, both desert timbers and not easy to source and the belly lams are black wattle. It's a light bow coming in at 32# at 28'' and 66 NTN.

bigbob2

It has the 'palm swell grip' compared to the normal waisted or taper grip.

bigbob2

doesn't show the grain very well in this shot on the belly veneer.

Bob, ya make one heck of a bow! It is cool how you use native wood.

Very neat stuff. Great looking bow and very interesting to see these timbers that are so foreign to us outside Australia. Keep it coming!

Very nice Bob!! The veneers kind of remind me of sycamore found here in MO. Haven't made a bow with it .. yet.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Nice bow, Bob. But 'black wattle'? Sounds like kangaroo poop! LOL!

There are tow places in the world I'd like to visit... Ireland and Australia. I have no desire to visit anywhere else, but those two I will see some day, good Lord willin'.

Don't get me wrong! There are many beautiful lands all around the world. There's just something about Australia that appeals to me. Ireland is one of those heritage things. You know, finding your roots and what not.

thanks for the kind word gents.red hill, Not a great place at the moment  as we have wild fires burning in 4 states and couple hundred houses gone.Temperatures have been through the roof too.

Great thing! I love the riser, the shaping and accent go together like salt n pepper!

Buemaker

Looking good and a nice color combo. I have a couple of 2x4's of Jarrah, kind of dark purple color and hard and heavy. I understand there is lots of that wood in your country. Do you use that wood for bow making? Bue--.

Dmaxshawn

Beautifully crafted bow.  Very nice veneers.  Look kinda like black limba.
