Does anyone have pics and or a story of game they have killed with a board bow they have made?  I think it would be interesting to see!  Oh, and list the specs of the bow too, wood, ect.

I would see him every so often, just a glimpse,as I scraped on the belly of that beast. (Would it ever be a bow? Would it crack? would there be a hinge?) But this buck was stoic standing with the wind in his face. He was alert to every thing around him. He was one of those proud specimens each beam of his antlers perfectly symetrical. I wondered if I could get this bow done in time for the up coming season. I focused and scraped pressing the metal against the wood and grabbed the gizmo. Maybe Mr. Big would be back under those big oaks as the sun set. I'd been watching this same deer for some time always like clockwork in the same space. Finally opening day hotter than usual for south Texas, I was able to sneak down to about 20 yards, you could see the trail he had been using. The bow finished out well, red oak 68" came in at 62 lbs at 28 inches unbacked, shot off the knuckle like a rocket braced at 7 1/4". I focused on the shot, one arrow one tiny spot behind the foreleg. He didnt see it coming, and the arrow ran true, the shaft buried itself deeply. I had done it an 8 pointer.I shot the "Backyard Buck" I just didnt know how that foam was going to taste...........

Lmao...   :clapper:

My first shooter was a red oak board bow that I hunted with and missed two very nice bucks with it that season(separate occasions).

Here's a couple....

You can read the stories in my new book "Tension on the String".

I have taken quite a few animals with board bows, and really like to encourage beginners to do the same.  Great way to hone one's bowyer skills!

Both bows are hickory backed maple....I found this to be a great combination.  Also, just for fun, the doe was taken with a "spoon" broadhead.

I don't have any pics, but my first trad kill was with my first ever board bow - a maple backed hackberry.  It was all the wood I had at the time!
She came in about 15 yards and I got all excited and made a really crappy shot that turned lucky.  Hit her square in the neck and spined her.  She did this mid-air back flip and landed on her side, kicked a couple times, and that was it.  My heart was beating so fast I thought I was gonna fall out of the tree stand!  I waited a few minutes just to make sure she wasn't gonna get up and run off, then got out and, um, finished the job.  I can say I've gotten a lot better since, but I'll always remember that excitement.  I still have the bow, but don't like to shoot it anymore.  I've made some much better ones, and that ol' girl shocks my hands too much!  I keep thinking I'll take her down and re-tiller her, but haven't gotten the "extra" time yet.
