Only thing I don't like, Bob is that it isn't at my house yet. :0)

I have to say after reading through this whole thread, i am in awe of the bows you guys build. I am just starting out and cant even imagine making something that looks as good as the ones i have seen here.

I am just in awe and so inspired and cant wait to learn more!!!!

Thought I'd have the second limb in the oven today. However, as usual when I started yesterday I found I still had several things to do before glueing started.

Amazing how many things you forget about when you havn't made a bow in several months.

Anyway, the glass and overlays on the back of the riser are now glued and clamped in place and the first limb is about halfway thru it's cook time.

Tomarrow I'll glue up the other limb and dress down glass and overlays on the riser block. After I get that taken care of I'll glue in the inserts and limb pins.

Slowly but surly I'll manage to get everything taken care of. For awhile I thought I might be one of the laggers when came to getting finished.

Building for more than one trade so been busy..........Got a little more done today between honey dues. Trapped the back of a Hickory, scraped the belly and did another toasting. Worked the Yew down a bit more (almost to floor tiller) put crazy glue and dust in the knots..... did a bit more heat straightening on the Osage and just to complecate my life a bit more..... trying another takedown. This time with Yew Billits???

Computer's been down for almost a week, in the shop for some repairs.  Just getting caught up here.  Wow!!! some amazing looking bows being cranked out, both glass and self bows.
Got mine stained and a couple coats of finish on it so far.  Can't decide what to do with the handle wrap.  I really like the skived wrapped handles that DVS does, but don't know if I can pull ot off, also been thinking of a jute wrapped one.  Decisions - Decisions, what to do.

DVSHUNTER

I like the scivved wrap.   :goldtooth:
They aren't difficult. Is actually say they are easier when you stich like me.

Having said that, I went with a hemp wrap on this year's bow.

I'm happy with that. send it over   :D

holy smokes we are off to the races this year with some great looking bows. The thunder from down under would find a good home here but a nice hemp handle rap would be great too. Oh the wonderful bows coming along.

I finally made some progress.  Got the blanks for the spliced veneers in the oven and a block for the riser accent in there too.  Cleaned up a block of figured walnut for the main riser piece too.  Kinda disappointed - it's got a worm hole that I didn't see before, but I'm pretty sure I can lay it out so it's in the part that will be cut out for the accent, so it should still work.  Also managed to finish up some new riser templates (out of 1/2" ply instead of poster board), cleaned up my forms, got the hot boxes ready, shop cleaned out and reorganized -- whew!
Oh, and finally fixed up an old Crate (?) recurve with an AMS reel for my dad.  Thinking about keeping it till it warms up a little and breaking it in for him.  :)

One of two things will happen; it'll either work or it won't.

First limb is out of the oven and second one is cooking. I dressed the riser after allowing plenty on time for back glass and overlay epoxy to setup. I then rough tappered the overlays. Afterwards I installed the inserts and pins.

Tomarrow I'll be able to dress the sides of the limbs and drill pin and bolt holes.

So far so good. At this point I'm happy with the way things are looking.
