You guys are making some nice looking bows!  Kenny - that is some cool looking wood - don't change your mind again.  Goose I love the knots sticking out the back off that self bow.

I am going to have to get into this next year    :bigsmyl:

In the mean time I will just admire the ones made this year!

Holy cow there's some nice bows!!

heartlandbowyer

Kenny, that zebra will look good. There's some great starts on the selfbows and glass bows, alot of nice looking wood.

I got one shooting today, not sure if I'm happy with it though. I think my riser shifted a bit in the form, the best I can get without cutting the tips off is 1/4 pos tiller.
I probably shouldnt mess with it though.
62" 52@28 shot 550gr arrow 175-178fps at 28.75 draw.

PrimitiveSniper66

Kenny, that looks like tigerwood...

Dan, go bloodwood. I want to see it.

Nice goose.

I got mine about that far too.

I keep working on the right limb but it just won't give.

Kenny, that is some premo looking lam wood you got there.  What length bow you gonna make?

Joe, I want to see that sycamore.  Looks great!

Goose, is that a piece of Kay County there or some burlington?

WestTexan

Spent a few hours working on mine tonight and have it
about ready to put some heat on it... Still need to work on the belly taper tho its still about a 1/8 or so to thick. It's 66" x 13/8 wide.

Hope this knot won't be a problem and really hope those little checks are gone after its at weight.

Some really nice looking bows you guys are posting.

Dang there is a lot of cool looking wood floating around on here.  Everything looks great and that serious.  Got a new favorite every time I pull this up.

Goose Gossett

David I think it is some keokuk or at least that's what the fella who gave it to me said it was.
He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow, and concealed me in his quiver. Isaiah 49:2

David Flanrey

Nice blade.  That bow you are working on looks great to this point and I know those knots are quite a challenge.

talkingcabbage

Goose, that blade is cool!  Do you knap, or did you get that finished from someone?  I've got a whole box full of flint, obsidian, and keokuk already heat treated and ready to go, but I look like a dang monkey with tools trying to make something that looks like anything.   :knothead:
If you've got any tips or maybe a tutorial, I'd love to see!

Rainman...I'd opt for bamboo backed osage over bloodwood any day of the week.  It's a proven winner.

Osage slats cut, recurve inserts shaped, form set-up and the bamboo is cut and ready to thin..Now if it would just warm up...-28 outside..The heater in the garage is struggling.

The last picture was some left-over purple heart and maple from a handle..Just so there is no confusion,,,

Has anyone done a good how-to with the take-down sleeves. I have a couple of candidates for 2-piece take-downs and was thinking of using that system.
