So I have a pyramid bow cut out but never got around to working on it as my first bow. This bow I started as a backup for a kids bow in case it broke. But his worked out so I ended up trying my hand at making a board bow actually 40 plus pounds. I think this ended up 61 inches (to match a string I already had) and 42 lbs at 26 inches (my draw length). Been shooting it past few days and I can shoot it better than my recurve. Its great. Might not look terrific, but it works for me and I'm gonna hunt with it as soon as i get a chance.
But this is the first bow I made for myself to use.

Looks pretty good to me, but where's the full draw pic?!
If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.

Two Spots,

That is fabulous, great job!!!!!!!!!!  :clapper:

Could you send me the specs on your bow, wood, dimensions, etc.?  As I am going to be doing my build very soon, and out of all board bows I have seen that one really catchs my eye.

It is just about the poundage and draw I want for myself, and I might like to try to create one for myself.

Thanks and keep up the great work.

Looks good, Twospots! Would like to see out at full draw, though.

Hey, thanks guys for the swell comments!

No pics of full draw but ill work on it - thats probably where I'll fall down a bit - i'm not the best tillerer (is that a word?)
The bed was the only open space big enough to set the bow down to take a pic at that time - sorry.
As far as dimensions I sorta wing it, so i can't give an exact thickness to shoot for, but i guess I could measure it, I even have the cool little tools for chcking it (micromiter?), never used them... they look cool on the wall though.

Red Oak board bow. Red oak tip overlays, Cherry inlay in the riser with red oak handle. Double paper backing (cause i wanted to be able to stain the paper but have a good backing soaked on both sides with glue so I just added another layer of paper.) Sanded down some black Latigo leather for the guard and used velcro fuzzy side for the rest.  Has a slight twist to it but not much.
Shoots great - my neighbor's kid got a new compound for xmas and we had a little competition with a 3d deer and a box target and i whalloped him.
