Has anyone ever used   HDPE  as a tip overlay material?

I need to replace some overlays and have access to this and wondered if it would work.  Can get it in various thicknesses from .060" up to .250" in sheet form

I experimented with it once for an accent strip (.060) in a kids bow and it didn't hold, the smooth-on did not stick. Using a razor knife blade I was able to peel the limb apart. I sanded both sides with 60 grit paper before glu-up. For tip overlays Troy nailed it.
