So-Mo Archer

Here are some pics of my first ever bow. I call her the So Mo Red Warrior.

Specs: 66" ntn, 47# @ 28", homemade flemish twist string (also a first), chrono'd @ ~140 fps.

Finish will be cherry stain, and homegrown camp pattern painted on back to cover the drywall tape backing.

She has a slight propeller twist to her, but is shooting 2 inch groups at 15 yds, do I don't think it's a problem. Any comments, ideas and criticisms welcomed.

Matt,

Great job  :clapper:

What kind of wood did you use?

A few pounds less and that would be right up my ally.

So-Mo Archer

Thanks, Kevin. I used red oak that I got from a local yard that supplies cabinet makers. Had to dig a while, but found one that would do.

Good luck on yours, and let me know if you need anything along the way.

So-Mo looks good but  we need a full draw pic to really she how your tiller turned out. Plus there is the rule about post pics of bows on here with out a full draw pic (ok not really a rule), but it is a party foul.

But looks good from what I can see.

So-Mo Archer

Roger that, Kelly. Will have to get one on here tonight, having surgery in the morning and won't be able to draw it for 3 months.

Nice lookin' bow, Matt. Enjoy it!  :clapper:

Looking very good. Maybe a little on the whip-tillered side, but the limbs look pretty even.

Don't worry much about the propellor twist if it shoots ok. Alot of propellor twist though can cause a limb failure though so dont take that philosophy to the extreme.

Keep em coming! Might wanna give one a try without a backing. You'll be suprised how resilient the wood is. plus it saves time which is good if you're impatient like me.

cheers
