I have a longbow i would like to have the weight reduced about 5lbs and the grip made smaller, is that something that can be done? I would think the grip could be made smaller but is reducing the bow from 56# to about 50# something that is possable or is that asking a little to much. Would like some input before i call the bowyer, if its a big deal maybe i will just leave it alone, maybe its the type of things they really dont care to do.  Thanks  Dave

What kind of bow is it, Dave? A laminated bow?

I'd bet your bowyer could reduce it 5 lbs.  That's not that much and sanding the limb edges and/or trapping the limbs would do it.  The grip can also be made smaller so long as it doesn't compromise structural integrity.  They may not like to do modifications to bows that are already finished, but I'm sure they also like to keep their customers happy and make a little extra money too.
