Here are a pair of pretty simple longbows I recently finished.

Hickory backed Curly Maple

66" ttt, ~ 55lbs @26", pyrimidal limbs tapering from 1.5" to 3/8". Handle built up from scraps of hickory backing with hickory tip overlays. Glued in about 1.5" of reflex. Hasn't been shot yet and it's just barely reflexed. Prolly will end with an inch or so of follow.

Hickory backed Cumaru (brazilian teak)

66" ttt ~45-50lbs at 26". Pyrimidal limbs tapering from 1.25" to 3/8". Handle built up from Cumaru. Hickory tip overlays. Holding about 1.25" reflex after several hundred shots.

Feedback is much appreciated! Thanks as always.

That curely is awsome.  Two really good looking bows right there.  Need some full draw pics.

Here's a full draw for the cumaru bow.

As an aside, that piece of curly maple was purchased as 1x2 s4s board at home depot .... for $5.90. I swear it never fails to amaze me when I watch a guy comp through the maple for the straightest least interesting boards leaving me a stack of birdseye and curly maple ... this rack was made entirely from figured maple scavenged from those piles ....

Two very nice bows, LB. and I like the bow rack as well.
Good job.

Very nice bows you got there! I wish our local home depot kept maple in stock, all they keep is red oak and poplar around here.

How far have you had the curly maple bow drawn? How many times?

I tried a d/r bamboo backed curly maple bow once, and I should have kept it just to show folks. I guarantee you've never SEEN so many frets in one bow! Maybe it was a soft piece of maple I had... I don't know though, it felt pretty hard as I worked it. Oh well, all I'm gonna say is... good luck with that one. I'll be surprised if it holds up for you for very long.

Jeff,

The curly maple bow has been drawn maybe 30-50 times, hard to say for sure. hasn't been shot at all. Also my draw length is only maybe 26" on a good day and the bow is 66"ntn. I havent sewen any frets yet but I'll keep an eye open and post any updates here.

Thanks!
