When using clear glass there is the possibility of having spots, steaks ect in or under the glass leaving a less than desireable out come. Short of putting snake skins or dipping the limbs what are other options bowyers have done to correct or cover this. Can you use a stain on the glass if so what kind? ect.. ideas..

I have a pair or two of limbs with a bunch of spots.  I haven't tried it yet but it was suggested to me to sand the glass as usual and lightly paint then put clear finish over the paint.  I am going to give it a try when I have a chance, nothing to lose I guess. Might even try a really different and wild color.

I've built several bows with clear glass and so far (knock on wood), I havn't had any spots show up.

After I started hearing the reports of this I quite using clear glass.

I'm going to try it on one more bow (when I built the one with the Flaming Ambrosia Maple).

If I get any spot or streaks it will be my last clear glass bow.

Besides, clear glass is much higher in cost the the colors.

Clear is really great when its clear. I have several pcs leaning up now, trying to figure what to do with em.

Too bad some bowyer don't make a dipped camo bow line, maybe bowfishing bow?......  

I have only had this issue with the two bows. Both times it was clear glass over Cocobolo. All processes, firehose pressure, application method etc etc were unchanged. The only common aspect between the two that have had issues was the Coco...no failure issues though and not bad enough "paint" over Kenny's awesome Coco that he consistantly provides.

I have had some streaks show when using dark veneers.  Not terrible and most folks don't notice them until I point them out.  In general, with medium or light tones, a few hard to see streaks don't bother me.
