I have like 5 projects to glue up.  So my URAC is like summer 2011 old. So order some from 3 rivers.  They sent me stuff over a year old.  Older than the stuff I had.

I can't believe it.

Would you guys use it?

Living_waters

as long as the liquid is not clumpy I would use it. nelson says the shelf life starts after you open the can any way. Just read that nelson says their supplier has stopped making urac 185, I havent confirmed that, maybe some one else has some info on this?

I have used it over 3 + years when kept in in the fridge.
I heard they have stopped making it also.

If it doesn't have black specks in it it is OK. I have used some several years old with no problems. Keep it in the fridge to extend it's shelf life.

Do you keep the urac in the fridge after opening, or before?

Roy from Pa

Both is what I do. But especialy after opening.

Just got off the phone with Nelson. And it is true the supplier has decided to shut down.
Plenty available right now.
Some possibility that Nelson could pursue the rights.

Charlie Jefferson(stringstretcher) called Nelson Paint Co to ask about the shelf life of Urac. They said one year from the time the can is opened an if refrigged it will last longer.
Also, Nelson Paint said the manufacturer has discontinued production of Urac and don't know when they will resume, if ever. So if you use Urac on a regular basis you'd better stock up!

Looks like we'll all be having purple stripes on our bows!  Heehee....Howdy Eric!

Living_waters

AAAHH the only boy with purple stripes may live in virgina, I think I found the last stash of resorsicol and shipped it to him..

The EPA forced that one off the market last year. One of the Bowyers bibles says mashed potatoes can glue wood, why dont they take them off the market.

I think you can still get it.....see quote from the web but @ $43 a pint ouch....
"This same adhesive is still available however, under the Cascophen G-1131 name and is still made by Hexion as was the private label Weldwood brand."

Eric Krewson

Just ordered a couple of pints from Nelson, just in case. I don't think I could make bows without it.
