I recently finished up this california style bow. Back in January I aquired a nice peice of yew from Sticks -n-String. His paddle bow that was featured in PA mag recently had my daydreaming on overload. I used rough deminsions from one of ishi's bows in Bowyer bible 1. she is 44 " ntn and pulls around 50# at 20". I put three courses of sinew on her and dressed her up with a durango king snake skin I found. Wrapped the grip with some dogbane cordage. she is fast but I got some practice ahead of me. Shooting a short draw is different.

Very nicely done, burnt. These shorties are a challenge to shoot. I got to shoot my 47" sinew backed yew paddle bow yesterday and it was an eye opener. I thinking I can get it out to 26" if I'm lucky. She's tillered to 24" now.

NICE !!!!!!!!!!!!

Love those skins Brent. I tried to fix the pic link that didn't show a pic but it didn't work. Looks awesome. Let's see a few of the strung profile and unstrung profile. Looks like it might be a keeper. Can't wait to see it in October.

That bow is pretty cool

So with those short bows, how do you remind yourself not to overdraw it?  Also, do you use some sort of anchor point when shooting?

I'll put a profile picture up if I get some free time Kris. John I've been using the heel of my hand and anchoring it at my cheek. Any short bow is hard for me cause I think it is going to break even though it never does. this bow had a few creeking sounds from the sinew when drawing and it spooked me a little. I'm going to put up a few pics from your swap bow last year now that ive figured out how to post them. she shoots great and I,m still having lots of fun shooting her. thanks

Nice lookin' bow, burnt. That snake skin really pops. Looks like a bow for close spots when hunting.

That's a great little bow.

Looks good....n it looks like your only pulling about 18"...i bet you can pull that one to 22" if you wanted. Most the time sinew and yew can go a long ways. But only pull her as you feel safe  ;)   shorties take lots of practice to shoot em well, but i love em

I was thinking the same thing.  I bet 22" will get you close to 60#, and that'll zip an arra quick!

She is definitely a beauty, very nice tiller as well
