Hey everyone,
I am fairly new to traditional archery. I shot a long bow when i was younger (15yrs or so ago). I was a kid then and it was just for fun. Now I want to get serious about it. I was wondering if anybody knew of any good resources in or around the Edmond/ Oklahoma City area. also was wondering if anyone could recommend some good books or websites dedicated to building bow's.

Welcome to the site. You can learn a lot about bow building right here. There are a lot of very experienced bowyers here on the bench and good advice is free for the asking.
Just one thing though. Once you start building, you'll be hooked.

http://www.archerylibrary.com/books/flatbow/     Try this little book by Hunt and Metz  the Flatbow. a Great read with all you need to build a bow.  Also my favorite video is Making a wooden bow  by Mark Keller. Its got  to be the best begginners video out there.  Well worth owning.You cannot go wrong with this video. Good luck  John.

Also check out the Bowyer's Bible Volumes 1-4.  Great stuff.

All-wood, boo-backed, or glass?

Plenty of info and help for any of em here!

2x on the Mark Keller video.  Gary Davis' video is very good also.  I have watched both many times.

Kenny asked the most important question are you looking to make a glass or lam style bows or self bows.

They I guess if you did all wood lams it would you would be kinda of learning processes needed for both.

Yeah I dont really know much about any of them. I want to read about all three and learn whats best about each and go from there. I apreciate everyones posts and I will definately check out the videos and book.

I am still fairly uncertain on what I would like to build. I know eventualy want to build a a recurve takedown, but that might be quite the undertaking for a first bow. Any suggestions on a good starter build, or should I go straight into the takedown?
