Ok, sorry I haven't posted lately. I got my trade bow pulled to draw length 100 times on the tree cause it's longer than my draw.

It is sanded, stained (kinda perty too I think), and the first coat of Tru-oil.

If I have not heard from you by Friday I will have to ban you from future swaps. Lets get this wrapped up.

Roy from Pa

Kelly, how many bows still have not been received?

KellyG

7 total but only one that is not talking with me. and 2 where or are boyers that were on hold until the other person shipped and one that was put on hold for a bit. So 3 that really need to keep me informed and on of them needs to let me know whats up real soon.

Finally- heres the latest update on my swap bow- sorry folks for all the delay- i have been communicating with kelly on this- i have had a pretty serious personal issue that needed dealing with- but i promised him ( and you!) that i would get this bow done!!
so here it is...
character yew stave, 67" ntn -with an oval cross section.
ling cod skins , wrapped with irish linen thread.
black tail deer antler tips
at time of pics the handle was not on-
but it sports a two tone leather handle (in brown hues) with a floppy rest.

hmmmm!! here you can see where my wife mowed the lawn, and then didnt clean the siding afterwards!!- i will get her right on that!!jeeez!!

here the  ipe plug can be seen for the punky blind knot.

ling cod skins

the tips, and the back of the ipe plug, blind knot hole

by no means is this the best bow out there- but it is certianally the best bow i have ever built. tons of challenges- and heaps of learning with  a bunch of firsts for me:
ling cod skins, new style of string nocks, pre stretched string, the blind knot ipe plug, floppy rest, oval cross section etc etc
i am very sad to be shipping this bow away- it feels a part of me now-
well... will just have to build another!!!
so , it will ship out in the next day or two.
will let you know as soon as its on its way.
thank you all for all the patience and understanding.

Wow Wayne, that is a beauty. Great looking character bow and very nice tiller as well. Very well worth the wait. Well done!

Nice one Wayne. Hope it's coming this way. Maybe I'll get to see it firsthand.

Wayne that is a great looking bow. Let me know when it goes in the mail.

I know all who are waiting are glad they still are.

wow, thanks guys, it is truly appreciated , especially coming from a bunch of guys that i respect and admire so much.
anyway enough said- here is the beauty i got from JGL- aka- john landis- quite a while ago.
so i thought i had better get with the programme!!!
i really like it, its really quiet, hits the target solidly, and is a shorter bow than i normally build. so it has a definate place on my rack- and will see the back end of a lot of arrows!

so i went apple hunting this evening- apples better watch out!!!

i love the grip- (fits perfectly) and the "snakeskin" backing- its the only bow i have with snakeskin

so  feeling rather confident- i had my pretty helper lend a hand....

great stuff gentlemen. still watching the doorstep with fingers-crossed everyday i pull in the driveway.  how'd you get her to stand still enough to balance an apple!
"I never make the same mistake twice, i make it three or four times. You know just to make sure."

fujimo

she's a good listener- at least better than i am....according to my wife that is!!
yup the plug was a real test for me too Red Hill. it took some figuring out, and lots of reading on this site- what complicated it even more was that it was a blind punky knot- in other words it did not surface on the back of the stave- it was only punky in the heartwood and the sapwood was growing over and healing itself.
i drilled it out with a forstner first, real carefully so as not to drill into the good wood. then a dremel to clean out all the remains of the punky stuff- that left a hole with an uneven bottom, so then i used some kids modelling clay and pressed it into the hole, and that gave me a perfect shape to shape the plug to for a really good fit. and the urac is a great glue too!!
