Looking great Kenny.  If it shoots anything like the one I shot @ MOJAM I'd say you have a winner.

rmorris: if those are notes on the wall with painters tape that's brilliant!  The only thing that would make it better would be if they are written on paper towels    :)

Stay sharp, Kenny.

Goose, that is a great idea of taping my notes to the wall so I don't loose them, but that is actually a picture of me shooting bows that my 6 year old niece drew for me while I was attempting to watch her and work on a bow one day. I made here wear a dust mask and now so wont go in my shop anymore.

Thats Ok with me if its overweight Kenny.  I'll still shoot it.  It looks Sharp as David said.  How much over do you think you are?  Are you talking about having to trap a bunch or just a smidgen?

Goose Gossett

Yeah Kenny it was the TD.  Smooth and quick is what I remember.

Shawn, not too much . about 5-6 #

Probably about 3/16 each edge  to clean up my goof.

Goose, I changed the pad angle on the next one and it is quieter, not nuff preload on #1 I guess.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Goose, the curves on the left bow are awesome.

Some of you are fast out of the gate with great looking bows.
I did some more work on the Longbow today. Heat straightened the stave a bit and added some more reflex into it. It has 2" now . The limbs are profiled to size on the sides, and it is floor tillered now. Started to work the limbs with the long tiller string a few inches before the scraping gets serious.

Wow, I was feeling good about starting earlier than last year, but now y'all are making me feel late again in the first month.  Beautiful bows gentlemen!

I got a black locust stave roughed out.  Still needs to dry a bit more, so I sealed it and brought it into the living room with the wood stove.  In parallel, I've started preparing some bamboo for trilam.

And Kenny, it's ok if it's a little over weight -- I've been working out and should be ok pulling back a few extra pounds...

So I have my bamboo prepped and ready to glue and my hickory is just about ready.  I'll cut up the width today and sand the saw marks out of it and then glue up with some slender recurves keeping set in mind.  Should turn out a pretty snappy bow!

Kelly I was told they are prairie snakes. Not sure exactly. Both skins are from the same snake.  I just took the trimmings and glued it to the handle of the r/d. Times are tough what can you say. All I know is they were free to me skins. One kinda slid when I wrapped it on the bottom limb but not te end of the world. 200ish shots through both so far and all looks well.

Man, the trade bows on here are looking great!

I just finished and delivered a bow last week with one about 3/4 complete.  I hope to skin a couple osage staves this week and shape to size for a couple weeks extra drying before the fun begins.

Kenny, that bow is a way too pretty to take huntin. Maybe you should just ship it to me.  I promise not to scratch it up!  :goldtooth:

Goose they look like Prairie rattlers to me to.

I've got my trade bow pulling 50#@26" now. Only a few inches to go. She's at full brace now and I'll let her remained braced for at least a few hours. Still not sure about back decorations...skins or cave drawings! What to do, what to do! d;^)

Canopyboy, those are some good looking rings on that bl.  I have yet to master the black locust wood.  I have attempted 3 bows from it and am 0 for 3.  I'll be watching and taking notes.

We have plenty of bl in my neck of the woods and very little osage.  I need to figure it out.

David Flanrey

Pat, I would perfer cave drawings but snakes are okay I guess.  :bigsmyl:

Pat B

Thanks David. I'll keep that in mind! d;^)
