Shawn, thats going to beautiful. No problem if it's to light.
Going to restart my trade bow tommorow.Think I figured out why it came to light, can't read notes!!

SportHunter

That wood grain is incredible    :notworthy:

Citycop

I started on my trade bow today. I had to go with a red oak board since I couldn't find a hickory board.

I got a white oak tree cut down the other day I'm going to split it and rough out a bow in hopes that it will dry in time so I don't have to send out the board bow.

Here's a recurve I'm working on- the riser is leopard wood with zebra wood in the center- limbs are zebra wood. I still need to add a piece to the riser and then get to shaping.

Jorgy

Looks good Trux, one of these days I'm going to have to try a takedown.

rmorris

Gluing on the tips with my mini ovens and the front overlays with the air hose method. Looks like this is all I will have time for this weekend and school is looks pretty busy for the week so hopefully I can get more done next weekend.

Trux , glad to have another New Mexican in the bow swap and as usual that bow is looking great.

Shawn that is a pretty bow! Those veneers give it a natural camo for when you're at the edge of the woods looking at a big tom.
Dave.
" Vegetarian" another word for bad hunter.

Thanks for the kind words all.  I hope I didn't go overboard with my swap bow.

Theres some really nice looking bows that are about to come to life when they get shaped and really see whats inside the turning block.

Now Kenny you I cant give out that info.     :knothead:

Dmaxshawn

David I like that darker Zebra those look really nice.

Trux Turning

Thanks guys- Shawn the zebra wood came out pretty nice-no issues with the dark colored lams and the clear glass.

We also have Jess in the mix from NM!

red hill

Nice lookin' bows, guys! Haven't started on mine yet, but it won't be long.

rmorris

My bad Jess, I did not forget you on purpose. Looks like all the boys from NM make glass bows. No wonder I am not sure how a cottonwood self bow would hold up.

No Shawn, I meant my trade bow may be not so good....

It is still over on weight, so we may make it work yet. Worst thing is one of the veneers slid sideways near the riser. May be able to trap it out to reduce weight to where I need it.

Here is checkin riser fit to form with lams in place..

Fades ground out and ready..

After gluing and some shaping..

And the site window area...

Stay sharp, Kenny.

just wow gentlemen. I got a little done on my swap bow. I am almost down to one ring for the back. I have about 1/3rd the length of the bow to go.

Then it is on to laying it out narrowing it up a bit. Then get it bending, yep almost 6 months of work left.  :)

I have sold a few, but not that design. Gotta see if the phenolic stripe in the veneer holds up ,which I think will be no prob with glue on all sides of it.
Stay sharp, Kenny.
