I am wanting to start doing more selfbows. My current draw knife is an older one that I picked up at an auction. I'm wanting to get a better one because it is pretty poor. What do you guys recommend, and price? Thanks!

I have a curved  5 inch "flex-cut" drawkinfe. It works great, and was only ~$49. A great value. The only problem is that it stays so sharp, but when i get to fine tuned work, all you have to do is flip it over, and it works perfect for the "fine tuning"

I got my best drawknife at an antique store for $20.  It's old, but in perfect shape.

Old ones have good steel! Mine is in pretty decent shape but I may need to make some new handles for it soon. I got it off of ***** for I think $35 and that was almost 10 years ago.

Perry bring it with you when you come down. I use a couple antique draw knifes I got from the auction site for about 20$ I got one off the classifieds here for about the same.

Antique stores have them all the time, but some of them are pretty proud of them ($$). I got lucky because mine is a direct hand me down from my grandpa and it is in fantastic shape. There are some nice new ones on the market if you want to go that route. ahturf, woodcraft, traditionalwoodworker to name a few.

Congrats Sticks!

I picked up two draw knives on the big auction site which were both much better quality than a cheap new one from Menards. There are many up for sale at all times. You should be able to pick up a nice vintage one for $15-40.
