I have a question regarding the spring type bow scales. I found one in my Dad's shop and would like to use it but was wondering how to check it's accuracy and also if there is a way to calibrate it if it is off? I did a search on here but did not find anything. Thanks Flint

Flint, how about pulling back a bow that you know the weight on?  If it is an older scale, that cannot be adjusted you may just need to make note how many pounds it is off + or -.

Brad, I think I can do that. No calibration huh?

Most spring scales have an adjustment screw on the back or bottom. I have taken a barbell and weighed it on a bath scale and then hang it from the spring scale. That will get you pretty close.

People need to get a life. That dose not mean to take someone else's, or to make one they can't support.

If you fish and hunt only to catch or kill something. You have MISSED THE POINT COMPLETELY.

If you have any weight lifting equipment around your house take a 20# weight and hang it from your scale weight lifting equipment is fairly accurately measured. See how close the weight on your scale is the weight.

A gallon of water weights 8.34 lbs. How many empty milk bottles do you have available?

The one you have ( top pic) has a screw on the bottom that is your calibration screw.
