Hi Bow guru guys.
I'm very new to this bow building addiction: have made and blown up only a couple of bows so far.
I am attempting to make 2 laminated kids bows for Christmas gifts. The boys are 6 and 10.
I bought the youth longbow plans from Binghams but there is no info on stack sizes.
The bows are going to be straight Hill types one about 30# @ 21 inch draw 14 inch riser and 56 inch N To N.
The 2nd will have the same riser but will be 48 inch N To N and 20# @ 16 inch draw.
Any help would much appreciated.
Thanks Craig

On the 48" one use a 12" riser and make it around .250 thick,

on the 56" one, I'd try about .320 thick (that would draw about 40# @ 27")

Both 1" wide

I'm pretty certain on the 48", the 56" one will be at least close.

Thanks Mike
I had no idea where to start with the stack hights. If they even come close to their draw weghts I'll have two happy boys.

where are you from cuzzie bro?
say - hows Trev?
got a kiwi mate who just left here a little whila ago after building a couple nice bows. one hickory backed ipe, and an awesome silk backed  osage.
he would sure like to hook up with other trad archers out there. i said i would do a little scouting around for him on the forum.
he is a stockman from the south island.

You can always make a bow that's a little heavy lighter with some sanding on the edges and on the glass itself.  The only way to (within reason) make them heavier is taking off length.

G'dday Wayne
I see you have picked up some of the kiwi lingo mate. We live in sunny Hawkes Bay on the east coast of the North Island.
Not too many trad shooters here. A few of the guys sway between compounds and trad gear but I don't know anyone else building bows and thats where any help you get from the people on this site makes all the difference.

I gotta admit, this thread came at the right time. I sketched out a mini 3-piece for my 5 year old friend last night. I'm setting the form up so that I can use the one riser, and build new limbs every year rather than a whole new bow every year. This gives me a great head start. Thanks for posting guys.

Made a string for the longer bow last night.
It came out at 28# @ 24 inchs only 2 pounds out
Got to be happy with that
Hope to glue up the shorter bow over the weekend

Cheers Craig
