I am making a black walnut flat bow. I want to back it with hickery but am new to the art of bow building. There are a ton of glues out there. Witch one would you recommend. Thank you for the help.

urac, or maybe titebond3- but urac is better.

Cant go past smooth on for myself but needs to be heat cured

TiteBondIII is readily available, easy to use and cleans up with water. It is plenty strong to use on any wood bow backing. I have used it on many bows and never had a glue failure.

i have to get my urac from the river boys, tb3 - like you said- you can get anywhere.

do a dry run first, and dont be tooo slow with the tb3 , as it has a shorter open time than other typical pva wood glues.
and its also good for silk, linen or burlap backings.

i just like the urac for the better gap filling properties. tb3 needs a perfect mate.
do NOT score the surfaces for tb3,
but DO score for urac

I like Urac also and use it in certain high stress applications. For most wood bow applications TB glue, whether it be the original, TBII or TBIII, is all most folks need.
TB glues do need well mated, smooth glue surfaces...and it works well for cloth, fiber, rawhide, sinew, fish and snake skin backings.
