Do you Guys and Gals Like your new bow you just finished better then your last bow you just built?? Me myself I'm really starting to like my newest..But I am still some what of a novice. So if I can get any of them to hold up and spit a few arrows "I'm happy", But who cares Build them,String'em,Bust'em,Shoot'em.. Do you think I could take PatB advice and slow down? Heck No! I did try..
I got my backing on yesterday let it dry overnight, trimmed the edges first thing this Morning, didn't even get the sleep out of my eyes,Wiped some kind of oil on it ,Got the string back on it and started shooting... ha ha! I love it, It shoots Good!! But it did take on one fret upper limb..I should have listened to Pat, Oh well it won't end the world and there's always tomorrow to start a new bow Better then the last one... Chuck

I always like the bow I'm shooting at the time the best. The one I'm shooting most now is one I rushed on, had it shooting less than 3 months off the stump and it took lots of set and fretted. I set it aside for about 6 or 8 months, added a new belly lam, retillered it and have been shooting it for 2 years.
 One of the secrets of getting around rushing on one bow is to have 3 or 4 going at once. You can satisfy your bow building jonses and still not screw up too bad.

I agree with Pat. HAve a few projects going on and you can work till your fingers bleed without rushing any one bow to completion.

I just finished 2, I've got another 2 glued up, and I've got numerous staves and rough blanks drying. I also like to occupy my bow making mind with looking for new trees to cut for staves.

Yes! Each new bow seems to teach me a little more than the one before.  I've made four hickory backed osage bows since last spring, starting with the swap bow.  Each bow seems to be progressively better. These bows have been going to other folks, though.  I'm currently tillering another for myself now! Can't wait till my bamboo dries a little longer so I can try a 'boo backed osage.

It seems I have a lot of catching up to do!
Working on #'s 3 and 4, have parts for #'s 5 and 6. Planning to get some staves as well.

My favorite is still one that I made several years ago, Lioness, an osage selfbow. I've made piles of bows since I made her, and while some have drawn my attention for brief moments, and a select one or two others are constantly vying for the #1 spot, she's been my #1 hunting companion and gone to the woods with me every year since I made her in search of all types of game and fish.... let's see, what's the date on her... oh, yep, 2004. Wow, 8 years, the way I make bows, I never would have dreamed I'd have hunted with the same one for that long.

I've yet to build one I like at all, let alone the newest one! I must be picky because I have a 1/2 semi load on my rack's.

I'm more with pearl on this one. All i see in mg bows are the flaws. It always," I should have done this.". Or "that didn't come out just right". I'm definitly my harshest critic.

Me too.  The flaws just jump right out at me.  Others praise all of them, but I know better!  :(  

The last one I built is my best workmanship so far, but still not the one I like best.  One I like best is the first one I made.  It's loaded with flaws, mistakes and a bunch of poorly corrected mistakes but in the end it's a pleasure to draw and shoot.  I trust that bow.

My next one will ALWAYS be my best one.
