Has anyone ever tried to stain a wood with beats? or Beets? I am a horrible speller

I've never tried it but beets sure will stain a counter top. I'd check for glue compatibility before I used it in a glass bow.

Pat said something in the "Bird Poop stain" post about natural pigments losing color fast. Maybe read up on that post, or wait for Pat to pipe up.

I've seen white oak stained with beet juice. It doesn't color as darkly as you would think, so the result was a kind of lavender color. It will fade if left untreated with some sort of permanent finish like Danish oil, poly, etc.

I think that natural stains are susceptable to UV light so a UV shield finish might help to hold the color.
