Carlo, a friend of us, asked if we could build him a hunting longbow. He told us that he would like Osage and Actionboo for the limbs and Cocobolo for the riser.

As usual we got some fantastic looking wood from Kenny...

All the parts are prepared and ready for...

...glue up and curing...

Slowly it starts to look like a bow...

Probably my favorite wood combos.  Can't wait to see the rest.

So is that stack BOB or is there some fiberglass in the mix too?

@Osagetree: That's exactly what I'm thinking when I see a bow of yours.

@Cuban Missile: There is some glass in this, the stack is glass - osage - 2 x actionboo - osage - glass

The bow has cured and it's time to mark the center line...

...and the shape of the limbs.

After the limbs are sanded and the nock grooves are filed...

...I can string her up the first time.

Looking forward to this Andy. I love the look of your bows...even if they do have FG in them! d;^)
Make the most of all that comes and the least of all that goes!

Thanx for the kind words guys. We had some time to work on the bow. Since Carlo wanted a longbow that is as smooth and quiet as a Black Widow ( if possible ), we decided to build a forward riser.  From the leftovers from the riser block we cut some 4mm thick pieces that we use to build up the riser.

Now it's time to cut the grip and the shooting window...

...and to shape it until it fits.

The tiller looks good and the draw weight is just two lbs above the target weight. The bow is pretty heavy but it feels just perfect...

I rubbed the riser with a wet cloth to show the colors...

Thanxs again Kenny for that fantastic piece of cocobolo. Love it, to bad that it's not for me. Maybe I'll tell Carlo that something went wrong and I have to restart from scratch... d;-D

Dang nice job guy!...Do you like the "No Glove"? I've thought about those for years but never tried them. I hate wearing a glove while hunting and don't like a tab either. Normally while hunting I just go bare fingers, in the yard I use a glove.
Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils.

That is a very nice looking bow.

okie64

That is a beautiful bow. Love the colors in that riser.
