I have seen some takedown recurve bows with a spacer or pad between the riser and limb.I was wondering what exactly this does for the bow? Is this for vibration control, looks or what? Also, I have seen some information that these are made from a rubber or gasket but I would think that you would not be able to have a nice edge transition from this to the riser or limb unless the limb is tightened exactly the same? I have also seen some that appear to be made out of a phenolic or similiar material. I would appreciate any information in reference to this. Thanks,

i put felt pads on mine. the purpose in my case was to stop a slight squeak when i draw the bow. don

Some look as if it is a cosmetic thing? Did this add much difference in the noise for you?

I use either felt or very thin suede leather. It helps quiet alot of small squeaks/noises when drawn, esp in very cold weather.
