I asked this question on another site so ingnore if you have already seen it.
I am getting string wear prematurely on the string grove. everything is rounded and smooth but the string is wearing on the  belly side of the bow. This is a takedown R/D bow and I think the string angle is around 55deg. Here is a couple pics strung. Whats you input on this?

Looks fine, so it must be some abrasion. If the string had dirt in it with the wax, it could act like sandpaper and wear like that.  Maybe round the belly edge a bit?

Take a Q-tip and rub it in the string groove.  If there's a rough spot, that'll catch it.

I agree the Q tip will tell you if it is rough

I would releave the angle where the string makes the turn from the groove. Plus anything above the groove is inert so any of that can be lessened too.

I'd serve the loop with some B50 or whatever string material you got.

The string in the pic is not the string I normally have on the bow, this is a B-50 that I use for tillering ect.. I use a D-10 padded with B-50. Thanks for the input I will look at all suggestions.

T, I agree with Pat. The combo of the D-10 material and the angle, at the base of the loop, would be the cause!

Every time the bow is shot, your bending the loop, a severe shock! Like bending a piece of wire over and over.

that looks exactly like the string angle on my rd longbows and i have noticed some wear also

i believe vanillabear is correct because when i put the bow on the tree i could see that i need to give the string some room to move on the top of the string groove. this could be made worse if you have a long draw length.

I checked the back edge by using my tiller tree and there is no contact. I will adjust the groves to releive the bend some and change the angle on my next bow.
