3 Rivers has them you can buy by themselves.  They are 22 dollars a piece though.

I would also like to do the same thing, but I'm worried about the shipping. They have the "Heavy item" symbol next to the boo backing in the cataloge, which means more shipping. I guess I could call?
I know the shipping rates on long items since I ship Osage staves.

Anybody here have any that's at least 66-68" long they want to trade or sell? Shoot me a PM and we'll do some horse swappin.

I have a real nice piece attached to the back of a splintered BBO you can have Chris!

Binghams, Rudder, Missouri Trading and Bamboo Rattan all sell slats. Plus a million more places if you search the web. Thae hard part isnt getting boo, its getting good boo that can be tricky.

I just went there and put one in my cart and it said actual shipping would be charged to my credit card when it ships. Where did you see free shipping at Binghams?

Well maybe I am wrong then, but I printed out the receipt and it says 0 shipping and total charge is what the boo cost. Time will tell I guess. Sorry if I lead ya all astray. I am an old guy just trying to get into Heaven ya know:)

:biglaugh:

Well, I hope you are right about no shipping charge cause I'll be ording some shortly after I find out from you how it goes. That is a good price on boo even if there is a shipping charge.

I'm trying to get into Heaven too Roy, that's why I'm so nice to everybody.      :deadhorse:

When you guy's get your Binghams boo in, how about letting us know how the quality is?  I only have four pieces left and will need to order some soon.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Will do Walt. It's Moso if that matters to ya.

I ordered one piece from binghams a couple of weeks ago. The quality is good, and shipping was quick...but certainly not free. I fell for the shipping is exact cost and it was $29.00 for a $12 piece of boo.

I think the expensive shipping is because it it over-sized. They will cut it in half for you to save on the shipping I think.

Cutting it in half wouldn't do much good on a 68" Osage longbow.

They probably use UPS instead of US Postal Service. UPS is outrageous on something long and they probably use a overbuilt shipping tube?
I sent an entire longbow in a 70" carpet tube for around $17 bucks through US Postal.

I got mine from here:
http://www.mastergardenproducts.com/bambooplanks.htm

Total with shipping for 10 planks was about $58 (31.88 for the 'boo and the rest is shipping).  Still, that works out to less than $6/plank.

fujimo

did you see their bamboo dowell- make good arrows!!- i might get a few with my boo order and see what they spine out at- i suspect they will be a little soft.

So how was the quality? Worthy of bow backing material?
That's definitely the cheapest I've ever seen if it's good quality stuff.

Absolutely good stuff!  The nodes on all mine were pretty long and they're all straight.

I've got some pictures on my computer of a bamboo-backed ipe bow I finished last week that shows one of the pieces of bamboo - let me see if I can upload them.
