I just wanted to start out with what brought me back to traditional.I started out shooting a bear re-curve when I was a boy 23 years ago.I didn't shoot for 18 years do to lack of gear and money.I just got a chance to buy a truth 2 off my brother 6 months ago.Even though it is fun to shoot it isn't much of a challenge anymore. With all the gear and sights on today's compounds they are almost like shooting a gun.It is no challenge to hit the bull every time from 50 yards and I think from that distance I should have to shoot every day to do that but I can take a week off walk out and pick right up from were I left off.So I got a black walnut stave and draw knife off e-bay.Been reading a lot of material on bow building and think I will be ready to start next week.I will post mt progress as I go.Any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated.Have a good day and let the arrows fly.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

I took a long break from archery too. Mine was due to an injury though. What got me back into it, oddly enough was my hobby of building things. I thought I might like to build a medieval crossbow, but the more I read about it, the more I wanted to get my old store-bought recurve bow out and shoot it again. So I did and after that the two desires combined so I started building a board bow. It isn't done yet, but will be in the next day or two. I hope you enjoy bow building as much as I have. This is a lot of fun and I'm already thinking about my next bow.

this is great...few things more satisfying than taking an animal with a bow that you built yourself
