Kelly, I think the secret is to get an early start and don't push the envelope too far! d;^)
These trades really make us all push the envelope just to make the best bow we can for our recipient but just like getting a good haircut, you have to know when and where to stop.
Yeah no kidding... Look what happened to Goose's head!    :biglaugh:

I'm with Pat on the early start, since I have limited access to osage most of my bows are white woods.  I cut them in the spring, rough out a few bows close to floor tiller and let them dry.  When October rolls around I store them in a closet beside my wood stove.  I weigh each one and mark it once a week until it stops loosing weight, usually around Christmas  This way I have plenty of options if the first attempts fail, like this year.  I broke two before getting one that was a shooter....Dan

WhoZaa!  Mailed it out today baby! .. only took me 3 freeken days to find a box for it.  But got one and shipped out via USPS Priority mail.  They say they are expecting delivery to my recip by Saturday.. Sweet.. that's fast for where it is going.

Mark me down as shipped Kelly man!
God gave you hands, use them

I have had one horn ready to glue up since I posted pics of the full draw before the belly glue up. I'm getting close to having the other lam ready and I just ordered some python skins to put on her. It will definitely be named "Dark Continent". I also plan to overlay the elk antler overlays with water buffalo horn.

Pat, did you see me leavin' the barber, or what? One side of my "fringe" is less than 1/2" and the other side is over 3/4"!! But my barber actually only has one good eye! Honest!   :scared:

I'm gonna right your quote on a broken bow Pat and hang it in my shop    :D

Everytime I screw one up I hear you in the back of my head telling me "you gotta know when to stop". The hardest lesson I have had to learn in this venture by far.  I guess it's the perfectionist in me that cause me to tweek and push until I have pushed to far. LOL

Hey Goose, a smart man once told me that you can't grow brains and hair on the same head. I think I got smarter when I cut my mullet off?      :goldtooth:
